Next New
New media has gone through a speedy evolutionary process and is continuing to grow at a tremendous rate. Just two years ago the word 'twitter' would have been considered jibber-jabber. Just five years before that the word 'facebook' was used by a select few at Harvard University. Today those are both households words not only in the U.S. but around the world. While it is tough to predict the next new big thing I think would be fun and ultimately could be the future. It is more a combination of existing technologies than anything else, but that is how many new media tools come to be. My idea is to take video-chatting, projector and 3D technology and combine them into virtual 3D projections of friends, workers, etc. that would bring conversations to life. Imagine being in your office or living room and having the exact life-sized 3D image facing you and engaging you in conversation. While this idea might be year away I hope it comes to fruition in my lifetime.

wow i have never thought of that. That would be a really cool idea, and a very interesting new technology. Very futuristic, i would like to be able to use a technology like that one day in the future.
ReplyDeleteThat idea is pretty interesting. While reading your blog I was like "oh man 3-d video chat as well," but then I pictured it and it wouldn't be so bad. It sounds great and it is true what you said it would be very nice to feel like I am in the same room as the person I am video chatting with.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about the evolution of social networking. But the idea that you have about the 3d video chat is very interesting. I can imagine myself chat with somebody and feeling like he is the same room. You should develop your idea because you might make money with it.

ReplyDeleteWow, that is something truly amazing and I actually never thought about it. With growing technology, anything is possible and like Jun said, it may happen in the future beause we are finally getting 3D TVs. It will be a great way to communicate and will increase interaction amongst individuals.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how new technology allows new media to develop in the future. I think that as the technology improves, so will our communications and social networking. We'll see where it goes.
